First Impressions Halo Reach Beta (Gameplay Included)

Posted by K.L. On April - 30 - 2010

I have only played a few hours worth of Reach, but so far all of my initial impressions are positive.  The Friends and Family codes were given out to a quite a number of online website destinations.  This in turn led to an overflow flow of “We Have Halo Reach Beta Codes” on Twitter and subsequently is the reason so many people have Reach Beta codes.

There are two maps available in the Friends and Family beta (four will be available for the full beta) — Sword Base and Powerhouse.  Neither maps really stand out for me; both seem rather mediocre at this point. Thus far the Gametypes I have played are the following:

Today, Bungie and Activision announced their plans to enter an exclusive, 10-year deal to usher in Bungie’s next big franchise title.  Activision will have exclusive, worldwide rights to publish and distribute all future Bungie games based on the new IP on multiple platforms and devices.

This comes shortly after news that the Infinity Ward Employee Group has sued Activision to recover between $75 and $125 million.  The IWEG contends that, “Activision has withheld most of the the money to force people to stay, some against their will, so that they would finish the delivery of Modern Warfare 3.”  It may not be the smartest move by Bungie, but considering this has been in discussion for 9 months there must have been some issues with Infinity Ward prior to the Bungie-Activision discussion.

This is one hilarious video. If you missed all the fuss over Gizmodo’s Hands-On Review of Apple’s upcoming iPhone then you may not get some of the jokes. In a desperate rage, Apple raided and seized Jason Chen’s computers to obtain information regarding the missing phone.  Of course, Jon Stewart makes the whole ordeal comedic, but hits Apple with some valid points.

AmazYn vs. TLR (Full Match Link Included)

Posted by K.L. On April - 29 - 2010

Last night’s epic matched ended after two hours of intense competition.  TLR came out on top over us in a very close 7-6 loss (double overtime).  We had a number of people watching the Live Stream last night and I want to thank all the viewers for watching, chatting and overall interest in the match.

I do not know if we will be in as intense match as that one going forward, but it was definitely the best match I have played online in a very long time.  Props to The Last Resistance for the win and we’re hoping to see them in the finals.

Can Facebook Connect Eliminate Anonymous Trolling?

Posted by K.L. On April - 28 - 2010

I really began thinking about a Troll-less internet after reading Michael Arrington’s blog article, “The Age of Facebook.”  Facebook’s recent announcement at their f8 conference about the Open Graph API got me thinking about the web in which Facebook is the de facto.  Here is an an excerpt from the article:

Those debates are important but they don’t affect the Facebook revolution any more than debates about Adsense a decade ago affected the decade of glory that Google just experienced. The fact is that Facebook is permeating the Web. Publishers, us included, are clamoring to organize our websites in ways that please Facebook.

Posted by K.L. On April - 28 - 2010

You will not want to miss this match up tonight at 8:00PM EST on the AmazYn Live Stream!  This is probably considered the biggest match for any team thus far in the $10,000 Battle of the Baddest tournament.  There are eight teams remaining in the Winner’s Bracket and eight teams remaining in the Loser’s Bracket. By midnight, there should only be eight teams remaining in the tournament.  Only the Top 3 placing teams will receive tournament prize money.
