Here are my votes based on who I played against this season and specifically watched. All Pro players (they should have extended it to Semi-pro) are able to vote. I don’t think I voted on myself last year, but this year I did in two categories (yeah I feel awful):

The Scrimmage Mentality
Competitive gaming, like any other sport has a certain set of criteria that need to be met in order to be successful. One of these criteria, practice, is perhaps the most important for success as both an individual player and team. It is often times overlooked or misinterpreted in competitive gaming and any Pro team will tell you that practice and team chemistry are extremely vital to success. With that in mind, the correct approach towards practice should be held in the same regards as any other sport. As the captain of my team, I take quite a large portion of responsibility at ensuring that my team is receiving the absolute best practice possible. I do this by following many of the principles that guided me throughout other sports I have played in my life.
My Second Gamerscore Challenge
Gamerscore challenge competitions are a new thing for me, but they have been going on for quite some time now. I will be participating in my second challenge for ggCircuit this month which also happens to be a charity event for Get-Well Gamers. I am using this time to unwind from a long season of Gears of War 2, but I have a few games on my “must play” list which include:
I am near completion of Bayonetta and Darksiders – I am sort of simultaneously playing the two. The “big dogs” of the Gamerscore challenge are targeting games they can get the most achievements from in the shortest amount of time, however I would like to enjoy myself. The challenge ends January 31st and the top finishers will receive some awesome prizes. If you are interested in following our progression, check out the standings.
Calvin Klein
I was browsing through some of the new apparel at Calvin Klein. Here are some fresh jackets that caught my attention…
MLG Orlando and 2010 Speculation
I can’t say that I am overly happy with, what could have been, my last Gears of War 2 event on the MLG Pro Circuit. We finished in 8th place, our second lowest placing of the season. It was a difficult task to go from a warm up mentality to match mentality facing two great teams in Get Bronco and Vision. Gears of War heavily favors teams that are in a groove, with momentum on their side and this event was no different. On Saturday Get Bronco destroyed the competition, including us, but Sunday that fire was gone. Vision was able to steamroll quite a few teams from AM bracket and that momentum carried them to the finals match — on Saturday they struggled with a few teams. We had a minimal number of mistakes, but we were simply outplayed by two teams that prepared more than we did for this event and we never found a groove (largely due to the poor bracket system).
MLG Nationals at Orlando!
I am packed and ready to go for my trip to the MLG Nationals in Orlando, Florida this weekend. Despite some of the weather forecasts about the upcoming blizzard, I believe we have an early enough departure flight that will keep us just out of reach of the storm. This is the final event of the season and we are all pretty excited for a shot at winning $40,000, the largest first place prize for a Gears of War title on the MLG Pro Circuit. We have experienced a lot of ups and downs throughout this season including our disappointing 11th place finish at Columbus to our unprecedented 1st place finish at Dallas. It has been one emotional rollercoaster and now it all comes down to this weekend.
Review: Astro Gaming A40 Audio System BXR SE Edition
I have been using Astro Gaming A40 Headsets for two years strong. During the time period of 2004 to early 2008 I used quite a variety of gaming headphones that never really possessed exactly what I was looking for in great console gaming headphones. From the Sennheiser 555′s which were very popular on the Pro Circuit from 2005-2007 (and still are to some degree) to the early model Tritton and Turtle Beach headphones. There were no headphones exclusively created for use on console gaming systems, it had always seemed like an afterthought from some PC headphone manufacturer.
